Material selection of friction wheels

Material selection requirements
The material of the friction wheel should meet the following requirements:
(1) Having a large elastic modulus to reduce elastic sliding and power loss.
(2) Having a large coefficient of friction, it can provide greater friction and improve transmission capacity.
(3) High contact fatigue strength.
(4) Good wear resistance and extended working life.
(5) Low sensitivity to temperature and humidity.
Pairing of friction wheel materials
(1) Quenched steel - Quenched steel. Made of bearing steel GCr15 and quenched to HRC ≥ 60, it has high strength and is suitable for high-speed operation and friction wheel transmission that requires compact structure. It can be used in an oil pool or in a dry state.
(2) Quenched steel - cast iron. It has high strength and can be used in an oil pool or in a dry state.
(3) Steel - laminated wood, plastic. It has a high coefficient of friction and moderate strength, and is usually used in dry conditions.
(4) Steel - wood, leather, rubber. Although it has a large coefficient of friction, its strength is very low and is usually used in low-power transmissions
