There are two types of agitators for desulfurization absorption tower: top entry agitator and side entry agitator

There are two installation forms for the agitator of desulfurization absorption tower, namely top entry agitator and side entry agitator. The top entry agitator is installed on the top of the tank to mix limestone solution, gypsum solution, etc., in order to prevent sedimentation. The side entry stirrer is mainly used in wet desulfurization towers to stir the slurry inside the absorption tower, prevent sedimentation, crush, mix and transport desulfurization additives such as limestone, and promote the uniformity of oxidation air, which is conducive to the reaction inside the slurry.
The main function of installing a side entry stirrer in the desulfurization absorption tower of a power plant is to prevent solid particles from settling in the slurry tank through the stirring of the stirrer, ensuring that the slurry can be uniformly transported to the next process project. At the same time, strengthen the diffusion of oxidized air, promote the oxidation of calcium sulfate, the growth of gypsum crystals, and the dissolution of limestone.
The selection of top mounted agitators for desulfurization absorption towers is crucial. Improper selection will lead to insufficient oxidation of calcium sulfite, low utilization of limestone, affecting desulfurization efficiency and the quality of gypsum generated. Uneven mixing of the agitators can cause local sedimentation at the tank bottom, resulting in cavitation of the pump due to the solution. High concentration slurry may enter the pump and cause damage to the pump.
